New Art Installation

Last week we met as a school to officially open and recognise the large abstract painting titled 'Beyond Flinders'.

This was created and donated to our school by Rick Eckersley, a past Hawkesdale High School student who has had a most interesting career as a landscape designer, experimental gardener and teacher.

The installation of this beautiful piece of art features the text, "Start where you are; Use what you’ve got; Do what you can" – words that resonate about positive intent and doing your best to be your best on any given day.

A big thanks to another alumnus - Peter Cook – for supplying this text, and for his continued friendship with Rick that led to 'Beyond Flinders' being generously donated to our school.

We really appreciate the contribution that alumni continue to make to our school, and their support of our students and school programs. A plaque about Rick and Beyond Flinders was officially unveiled during the assembly by the most senior alumna still at our school – Anne Maree – and by one of our most junior students – Destiny - in Year Prep.
