At our school, we know that it is really important that students get the opportunity to share their ideas to make our school even better. It is is made up of the Senior and Junior School captains, the Grade 6 leaders, elected class representatives for Years 7 - 11 and the two elected student representatives on School Council. Any other students who wish to participate are always welcome to come along to our meetings which are catered by Leanne in the canteen.
Student Voice gives students the opportunity to share their opinions on issues like uniform changes and ideas for student led like our footy colours dress up days, the Great Hawkesdale Bake Off, school discos, Dolly’s Dream events and more.
The Student Voice Chairperson is in charge of chairing meetings. They are tasked with getting ideas rolling and making sure there is order in meetings. They make sure everyone gets to have a say and work with the Student Voice teachers to delegate jobs and make sure jobs get done before Student Voice events. There is a deputy for when the Chair is away or needs support.
The Student Voice secretary is in charge of writing the weekly meeting agenda and taking minutes. They need to bring their device each week, make sure what is discussed at meetings is accurately recorded and uploaded into the shared drive. There is a deputy for when the secretary needs support.
The Student Voice treasurer is in charge of fundraising for Student Voice. They work with the Student Voice teachers to create the overall budget, write fundraising budgets, add up money after a fundraiser. There will be a deputy for when they are away or need support.
The Student Voice reporter is in charge of sharing what is happening at Student Voice at weekly 5-12 assemblies. They are also in charge of making newsletter items about Student Voice. there will be a deputy for when they are away or need support.
Student Voice Class Representatives are elected from each class in Years 6-11. They are responsible for sharing ideas from members from their class, representing the members of their class by voting on ideas. They come to our weekly Student Voice meetings and help prepare for student voice events.
Skittles - LGBTQIA+ and Friends is a group for secondary students. All are invited to join our safe space to support each other and find community. In previous years, Skittles has organised 'Wear it Purple' and IDAHOBIT dress up days as well leadership workshops with Student Voice working out ways we can make sure everyone’s voices are heard.
