What food does the canteen have? There are lots of options for you to choose from. Leanne makes lunch orders like lasagne, mini-pizzas, parmas, and chicken caesar wraps. You can get drinks like juice and flavoured milk and icy-poles in summer too.
How many students are there? At our school we have approximately 175 students. 60 in the primary and 115 in the secondary. This means we generally have one class per year level for the secondaries and composite classes in the primary (Prep-2, 3/4 and 5/6.)
How will I find my way around?Everyone is very friendly at our school so you can ask someone if you can't find where you need to be. You can also look at the map on the next page to get an idea of where everything is at our school.
Do I have to do homework? At our school we encourage all students to read for at least 15 minutes at home every night. In junior secondary, your teachers may set small homework tasks when they are required or when you have not finished work in class. Senior secondary students have more homework and study requirements as they progress to VCE.
When do I find out who my teachers are?If you are starting in prep or year 7 you will get to meet some of your teachers at school transition days. You will get to meet everyone in your first few days of school.
Where can I go if I am feeling overwhelmed?
The welfare room is always open if you need some quiet time and someone to chat to. The Base is also a place for students to visit if you need a quiet, calm spot.
Is the work hard?At our school we know everyone learns at different rates. We have small class sizes so teachers can give you work that is at your level. We also have programs for learning support and extension to help you on your learning journey.
How will I know what books I need? You will get a book list that explains all of the materials that you will need. Bring these labelled with your name on your first day of school.
How will I make friends? Most students starting at a new school are nervous about making friends. Try introducing yourself to someone new on your first day and ask for their help finding your way around. Our school has lots of opportunities for you to get to know your classmates. The library is open at lunchtime to meet new friends and you will get to go on camps and excursions. You can talk to the wellbeing team if you are feeling worried about friendships too.
